Zack Godley took the loss his last time out against the Cubs despite allowing just two runs over 5 2/3 innings. In his last four starts, he is 2-1 with a 1.78 ERA and he has been pitching great. This will be his first start against the Twins Friday which also benefits the pitcher. In yesterdays win over the Astros Arizona did not need to use its bullpen. That’s a prime factor against a Twins team that played in a home double-header Thursday against the Indians. PLAY the Diamondbacks.

Any time Aaron Nola takes the hill, it is a good idea to look at the UNDER

Nola has allowed 2 runs or less in 10 straight starts, and the Under has connected in his last pair of starts, and is 7-2-1 overall in those 10.

Jeff Samardzija has not been as stingy, but he has allowed 3 earned or less in each of his last 4 starts, and the Phillies bats have only been able to plate 13 runs total over their last 5 games, and have been blanked twice in their last 7, including last night at Petco Park. Both of these offenses are bad and I think the UNDER is the way to go here on Thursday night.

Diverse results for Week 1 make this turnaround likely in this instate battle. The Jags pulled a monumental upset of the Defending Champion Patriots by a score of 31-24 when they outrushed New England 207 to 114. The good feelings for the 3-13 SU Jags of last year may be enough to keep them happy for the entire month following that upset.
Tampa Bay is off a double digit lost to the Bengals.

The Bucs WRs had some odd issues with route-running and getting open, as their numbers had shown. But their receivers have been doing a much better job with their underneath routes to get some space. Ryan Fitzpatrick has a very average arm, with barely any agility - and he wasn't able to push them anywhere when he was on the field. But Jameis Winston looked as good as expected when he was slinging it around. The Tampa Bay QB made some nice plays with a excellent vision that can take advantage of intermediate passes, and also has the arm to get them moving as well. Tampa Bay has a lot to show off - even if it's only for 1-2 possessions. The battle of Florida is going down here, and Jax doesn't stand a chance.




Jacksonville can't possibly look at 32 year old QB, Chad Henne, as the guy who's going to catapult this win vs the Bucs. Henne had problems with accuracy, and he will have his share of problems with the DBs of Tampa. Teams haven't had problems trying to find an answer stopping the Bucs running game - but Jacksonville isn't going to figure that out, as they have had their share of issues stopping RBs from breaking the plane in the end zone.

I like TAMPA to bounce back with a WIN this week.

The Ravens Joe Flacco will sit the entire pre-season so Baltimore is a dog again. The Ravens will go with Ryan Mallett, Dustin Vaughan and Josh Woodrum.
Miami is going through the Jay Cutler era and while I think he will surprise many and play well under former Bears OC and current Miami HC Adam Gase it is still a process. He’s taken reps away from the other QB’s and I think they'll be rusty tonight.
Baltimore’s John Harbaugh is now 11-3 SU his last 14 pre-season games and is even better at 8-1 ATS as a dog. Miami is off a home win and while their HC is only in their second season there is no pressure to win pre-season games or risk more injuries.

Rookie WR Mack Hollins is looking comfortable with the ball in his hands, which is obvious to anyone who watched his 64 YDs and his 16 YPC last game. It's not very often you see the front Dline of Philadelphia get all that thrown off - the Oline of the BIlls wont be keeping them very confused either. Matt McGloin was steady last game - this will be interesting for the 5th year player. McGloin was great with the dink and dunk game last week - this week- they will move it downfield more. With the player situation between the 2 teams recently - I don't see Philadelphia letting the Bills get a whole lot vs them. The main problem with the Bills has been more than slow starts. Buffalo would like to get some of their WRs out of 5 second routes but their sloppy OLine tends to give their QBs less than 3 second protection. Rookie QB, Nathan Peterman also has the propensity to throw some pretty ducky passes when DEs come crashing in. This will be a test - and even though his balls looked better, his poor vision erases any chances of him being nearly as effective as needed here, on the road. Bills are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. Philadelphia puts up 18 or more pts here and gets the win and cover at home Thursday night!

The Orioles took the 3-1 loss yesterday but previously had won 6 of their 10 prior games and recorded double digits in hits in 7 of those 10 games. Marco Gonzalez gets the start for the M's here and he is winless with an 8.49 ERA in his 3 starts this season. The Orioles will have Ubaldo Jimenez on the mound for this one. Although his season numbers are sub-par, Jimenez has been pitching very well of late with a 2.50 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 18 innings over his last 3 starts. The Orioles get my call here on Wednesday afternoon.

The Royals let one slip between their fingers last night after a five run eighth inning, they allowed the Athletics to score six in the bottom half of that inning. Danny Duffy gets the call in this one. He is 7-8 on the year with a 3.68 ERA. Paul Blackburn will counter for Oakland. He was just hammered in his last outing, giving up four runs, two walks and ten hits in just over five innings of work against the Orioles. That was a career worst for him. He has alternated bad and good starts in his last 8 starts. We'll look for Oakland and Blackburn to get the win at home here Wednesday afternoon.
